On September 2nd 2010, West Nipissing Police was called to a wooded area along Lac Clair Road west of Sturgeon Falls in response to a report of found human remains. The investigation was initiated as a homicide and a team of officers was assembled. Assistance from the Ontario Provincial Police Forensic Identification Unit was obtained in processing the scene and dealing with the physical evidence. A post mortem examination of the body was conducted at the Centre of Forensic Sciences by Pathologist Toby Rose with Ms. Renee Kosalka as the consulting Anthropologist. The autopsy revealed no signs of trauma.
